Take a look at the LittleBits kits. not so much programming but electronics
and very robust. My son has some at 3 and loved playing with them. He
killed them eventually but they lasted 2 years. I think JB Hi-Fi and the
Apple Store have a clear plastic R2D2 kit with LittleBits electronics
components that drive it around. You can also buy different LittleBits kits
from Questacon shop, Arboretum Shop and Portrait Gallery Shop.
